Pawholt's guides exist for one reason: to help you look after an animal well. Here is how we put them together.

How we use AI

We use AI in our work, and we would rather you knew it. Our guides and profiles are drafted with AI language models working from published sources, and the facts are then checked against the sources we cite. Many guides link those sources next to the figures; many breed profiles do not yet, so for anything about health, safety or the law, go to the official sources and your vet.

Every page goes through automated checks before it goes live: for claims without a named source, for figures that disagree with the source tables we use, and for broken links. The whole site is audited again regularly, and when we find a mistake, we correct it. Not every sentence is read by a human specialist, which is one more reason to follow the official sources we link for anything about health, safety or the law.

Most pictures on Pawholt are AI-generated illustrations: the line at the top of every page says so, and article covers carry an "AI illustration" label. They show what a breed or species typically looks like; they are never presented as photographs of a particular animal, plant or place.

Research and accuracy

Every guide starts from reputable sources - veterinary references and recognised breed and species authorities. It is desk research: we do not claim hands-on tests we have not run. We give specific care advice, we are honest about the trade-offs of a breed or a routine, and we say plainly when something (a training approach, a food choice) really comes down to preference.

Updates and corrections

Animals, products and best practice all move on, so our guides are revisited and corrected rather than left to age behind a fresh date. If you spot something wrong, tell us through our About page and we will put it right.

Independence

Not professional advice

Our guides are educational and never a replacement for a veterinarian who can examine your pet. Anything touching health, medication, poisoning or an emergency needs a vet - when in doubt, call one straight away.
