Overview
The Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus species) is a small armoured catfish from South America, famous for algae-eating ability and the distinctive whisker-like "bristles" on the face of mature males. Among the most popular freshwater algae eaters - unlike the much larger Common Pleco which grows to 50+ cm.

Several species in the Ancistrus genus. South America. Lives in rocky riverine habitats with strong flow.

Health & Lifespan
10-15 years.
Common concerns:
- Ich.
- Bloat from over-feeding.
