What it lacks in pattern it repays in shine, visibility and friendliness: Ogons are famously the tamest, boldest feeders in any pond, and their glow reads from across the garden.
Natural History
Developed 1940s-50s Japan from metallic-scaled lines; 'Ogon' means golden. The single-colour metallic class (Hikarimuji) is built around them.
Appearance
Solid metallic platinum, gold, orange or cream over 60-90 cm; judged on lustre evenness, clean head skin and unblemished scale rows - with no pattern, every flaw shows.
